No great nation exists without having a correct use of its language\u00bb. The basic intuition of the great Portuguese Poet, Fernando Pessoa, has always turned against the rather unfortunate fate of the Italian language which is not at all widespread abroad and we could even go as far as saying, quite neglected in its own country, and ranking only 21st in the most spoken languages of the world. However, at the third edition of the conference “The General State of the Italian language in the World” held in October 2018 at Villa Madama in Rome, plenary sessions, dedicated to the evolution of the Italian language on the Internet and Social Media and entitled \u00abItalian on the internet, websites for the Italian language\u00bb, would seem to offer a reason for optimism, and even enthusiasm in view of the data supplied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Enzo Moavero Milanesi. In fact, such data shows that the Italian language today as \u00abthe fourth most studied language in the world\u00bb and, undeniably, a real positive surge of enthusiasm pervaded this day of reflection on the Italian Language and its progress in I.T organised by Farnesina (the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Cooperation) in collaboration with reputable bodies like the “Accadema della Crusca”, the Dante Alighieri Association, the Swiss Confederation and the Italian Ministry of Heritage and Culture. Farnesina’s Director General for the National Economy and Production, Mr. Vincenzo De Luca, also highlighted this using the mapping of Italian teaching throughout the world that identifies a total of 2,145,093 students in some 115 countries for the academic year of 2016\/17 (data collected by the Italian Institute of Culture).<\/p>\n
