Official certifications for foreigners

Universal Speaking, in collaboration with the Examining Centre Train Me Srl, is an official CELI registered office. These internationally-recognised exams (known as “CELI”) certify a person’s knowledge of the Italian Language and are destined for young and adult foreigners wanting to prove their Italian competency and fluency. They are valid both in the workplace and for studying purposes.

The CELI qualifications are structured at various levels in accordance with European Community regulations, and are based on the specific knowledge and use of the language, the levels being A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. In addition, there are other categories of certification based on the requirements of the end-user as follows:

CELI general Italian: for general Italian language purposes covering all levels (used for all requirements whether it be for work, university enrolment, Italian Citizenship or an Italian visa/residential permit etc).

CELI immigration covering A1, A2 and B1 (solely for obtaining Italian citizenship and long-term residential permits).

CELI Youth for young foreign students covering A2, B1 and B2 (as per the CELI general Italian but aimed specifically at young people between the ages of 12 and 18 years old).

These CELI certificates come with the European quality seal of approval (the so-called “Q Mark”) and are issued and awarded by the ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe) following the successful passing of a designated test.

The Italian Ministry for Education, Universities and Research (“MIUR”) acknowledge level CELI 3 as a document that certifies the knowledge of the Italian Language in order to enrol in an Italian university in line with what is requested for non-native Italian speakers by the particular university in question.

Levels CELI 4 and CELI 5, also designated to the academic field, are certified qualifications that prove a foreigner’s knowledge of the Italian language to be equal to that of a native Italian speaker.

Here at Universal Speaking, you can take any one of the above exams to obtain your required CELI level. In addition, we also organise specific courses for the CELI exams either with individual one-on-one lessons or in mini-groups consisting of exercises aimed at giving you the maximum preparation skills to pass the exam.
